Heart 2 Heart Challenge

This is my first submission as Guest Designer for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge during this month of May. The challenge for the week of May 7th is to create a card or project for Mother's Day. I chose a card. It has a 5 1/2" x 12" base and I turned it into a gift card. Start by scoring your card stock at 4 1/4", then 6" and 7 3/4" (I have to rotate my card stock 180 degrees and score at 4 1/4" again because my scoring board doesn't have a 7 3/4" line). I fold it in half at the 6" score line and then sandwich that fold toward the center of the card to create a gift card pocket. Hopefully the photos help my instructions make sense:-)
I then tape the backside of the card just around the edges to make the pocket. I use a 1/2" punch to create the middle slot and then use that as a guide for the next step of using a 2" square punch to complete the gift card pocket.
There are guides on the 2" square punch that I use to align my punch so it's not too deep. Like shown in the photo below.
The inside of the card has a piece of black card stock and then layered with a piece of white cardstock cut at 4" x 5 1/4" and then it's stamped with a phrase from the CTMH stamp set "In the Month of May" (now retired). The photo below shows the gift card pocket:
On the front of my card I layered a piece of white c.s. and then used the same color card stock as the base (CTMH Gypsy) with a dry embossing folder and my Big Shot. After embossing the c.s. I used the CTMH piercing tool set & ruler to create perfectly aligned stitching holes and then hand stitched the edge with crochet thread. The shapes were cut using the CTMH Art Philosophy Cartridge and then I added flowers from the same set called "In the Month of May". I added a tag with a "Mother's Day" sentiment and some black opaques and a ribbon with button.
Thanks for stopping by!
