Spring-time Sympathy

Spring usually means "new life; a fresh start" but every year, sadly, we have a death in the family it seems. I made this card for the sad occasion:
It has a black cardstock base with paper from the Lost & Found 2 "Sunshine" collection. I love the warm, muted tones that match well with CTMH "honey" ink:

The sympathy verse is from a Verve stamp set, the flower and leaves is from the retired CTMH "Trellis" (D1451) set. This is one of my favorite stamp sets of all time. The flower and 2 step-stamping approach is so pretty! I love the details of the butterfly as well. I used black and honey ink from CTMH.

The inside verse is also from the Plain Jane series at Verve Stamps. I used a scalloped Nestabilities for the scallop circle and a 1 3/4" circle punch for the sentiment. The ribbon is a golden sheer-type attached with a glue dot.

Thanks for stopping by! I'm praying we get more spring-like weather here. This cold has got to go!!!!!

Heart2Heart Challenge

This week's challenge at the Heart2Heart Challenge Blogspot is requiring the use of tags on your project. I had to make a sympathy card and I love using tags so this challenge was perfect for my card. I also used the "Triple Stamping" technique found here.

I pulled out my January Stamp of the Month set from Close To My Heart called "Happy Valentine's". It worked perfectly to stamp the largest image several times on my layers.
I stamped with CTMH black ink and then colored the roses with Hollyhock & Olive markers from CTMH. The tag was cut using the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge and my Cricut. The ribbon is a sheer olive-colored ribbon that I attached using Glue dots.
The sympathy sentiment is from a Verve Stamp set called "Forever in our Hearts". Thanks for stopping by!

Forever in our Hearts

I received some news that my childhood pastor recently went to the arms of Jesus! That's happy for him, but sad for the family that grieves for his loss. I really like the paper pack from My Mind's Eye (MME), called Lost & Found 2: Sunshine, so I chose that for a sympathy card for his family.

The base of the card is from CTMH Colonial White with a layer of CTMH Twilight c.s., then MME B&T paper. For my sentiment I went to my favorite Verve sympathy set called "Forever In Our Hearts". The scalloped circle was cut using a steel die, the gems are called sunflower & some sheer black ribbon was added. The flowers, black sentiment shape and leaves were cut using the Art Philosophy Cartridge and the Cricut. I got inspired to keep creating so I made this card too:
This also uses the My Minds Eye B&T paper. I chose the same flowers and leaves with a tag this time. The stamp set is from Verve called "Forever in Our Hearts". Hopefully I won't have to use this card anytime soon:-) Be Blessed and enjoy the day. Thanks for stopping by!
