Congratulations Card

If you enjoy using up smaller scraps and having many layers, then this card is for you! I cut circles from circle punches, butterflies from an SU embosslit die, the hearts and flower from the Cricut and then layered with 3-D foam tape and added some sparkley bling! If you need to use up some scraps, give this type of card a try!

Acorn Birthday

Enjoying the beautiful fall weather! This acorn card was cut with the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge and the stamp set "Joyful Birthday" from CTMH was used. Adding a sheer gold ribbon and some paper scraps and the card is complete! Fast & Easy-Peasy!

Girl's Graduation Card

I started with a desert sand cardstock base and used the fun new CTMH "Surf's Up" paper packet.The circles were stamped using a retired CTMH stamp set called "In the Month of May"
The words are from the CTMH stamp set "For Every Occasion" Ink colors used were CTMH sorbet, olive, and chocolate. The layers used a dark chocolate cardstock and an SU embossing folder.

Spring-time Sympathy

Spring usually means "new life; a fresh start" but every year, sadly, we have a death in the family it seems. I made this card for the sad occasion:
It has a black cardstock base with paper from the Lost & Found 2 "Sunshine" collection. I love the warm, muted tones that match well with CTMH "honey" ink:

The sympathy verse is from a Verve stamp set, the flower and leaves is from the retired CTMH "Trellis" (D1451) set. This is one of my favorite stamp sets of all time. The flower and 2 step-stamping approach is so pretty! I love the details of the butterfly as well. I used black and honey ink from CTMH.



The inside verse is also from the Plain Jane series at Verve Stamps. I used a scalloped Nestabilities for the scallop circle and a 1 3/4" circle punch for the sentiment. The ribbon is a golden sheer-type attached with a glue dot.

Graduation 2013

I've started making some graduation cards. Time is slipping by so quickly and I have so many graduations this coming spring. I wanted to make the matching school colors, but finding the right paper was more difficult than I thought so I chose the wonderful red/black/white combination for this card:
The card size is 5" x 5". The graduation cap is made from a 2" square punch. The tassel is created by wrapping string/crochet thread (or whatever you have that looks like tassel cording) and you wrap the string around your 4 fingers about 5 or 6 times or you can use a piece of heavy paper like in this image:

I used the CTMH White Daisy ink for stamping the background on black cardstock. The chalkboard look is so popular this season, it seems to be popping up in everything. I love it! I used the Cricut and my Artiste cartridge from CTMH to cut the letters out. It was fast & easy! The background stamp set I used is called "Congrats Graduate"

Circle-Up

I used the CTMH Clementine cardstock to create this Birthday card with lots of circles:

Circles add a fun touch to cards and the butterfly embosslits add a touch of spring. I added mocha opaques from CTMH:

The inside has room for writing your personal birthday greeting and uses the stamp set "Enjoy" from CTMH:

Girls Rock

A quick post tonight. I made a simple card using the new stamp set "Girls Rock" and "Distressed Backgrounds" from CTMH. The Cricut and Artiste cartridge cut the flower shape that coordinates with the Girls Rock set. I really like the background stamp set for a fast and nice-looking border.

I've been slacking on my posts because I have had a change in my life. I took a temporary job for what was supposed to be 3 days and the girl I was covering for was quite severely injured in a car accident on her way home from her vacation. She broke her femur, ankle and knee and now I'll be filling in for 6 to 8 weeks while she recovers. I'm trying to figure out how to get more creations but at the moment I'm pretty busy. Please say a prayer for my friend, Barbara, while she heals from her injuries.

Just for You

I love making square cards, but the downside is that they cost more to mail...but they're fun to make. I liked the Deconstructing Jen sketch so much from my previous post that I followed that for this card:
Starting with a 5" x 5" base with the now retired "Roxy" paper from CTMH. I distressed all the layers with the CTMH edge distresser and had the Cricut Artiste cartridge cut the butterflies used on this card.
The inside sentiment is from the set "A Friend Like You" from CTMH.
The pearl opaques (from CTMH) added a nice touch to the butterfly. I cut the tag with the Artiste cartridge and stamped it with the CTMH White Daisy ink pad.

Deconstructing Jen No. 86

It's so inspiring to use sketches when you create a card. I haven't done a sketch from the website Deconstructing Jen for quite some time and I really like some of the sketches they have so I created a card using this sketch:
The black cardstock base measures 5" x 5". I layered some designer paper from a hobby store paper pad that I purchased last year.
The circles were cut in varying sizes and the butterflies were cut using an SU embosslit die:
I used the fun "Joyful Birthday" stamp set from Close to My Heart and on the inside I used a sentiment from the set "For Every Occasion"
The Licorice Opaque Gems work perfectly for the butterfly bodies and additional embellishing:
The CTMH Burlap Ribbon adds a unique touch to this card with the black button sewn in the middle:

Here's a quick birthday card using the new CTMH stamp set Girls Rock
The stamp set looks like this:
I started with a white cardstock base, layered with Hollyhock c.s. from CTMH, then ran that piece through the Big Shot and an embossing folder
The inside uses the new stamp set Perfect Fit-Frames 2 and Perfect Fit-Birthday
I also used some "For Always" designer paper and the new stamp set Joyful Birthday for the sentiment.

Mojo Monday #279

It's contest week at the Mojo Monday Blogspot. This week's sketch was designed by Julee Tilman (owner of Verve Stamps).

I wanted to use some of the new CTMH For Always paper pack. It has beautiful black & white patterns that can accented with bright colors for a bit of contrast on your paper crafting projects.
I started with a black cardstock base:

Layered white cardstock and then lots of layers of the new "For Always". I chose CTMH sunflower for some bright contrast.

The cricut cut my flower, leaves, flourish and ovals.

The pearl opaques add a soft touch.

Fast and Furious!

My eldest son will be turning 21 years old tomorrow.....my goodness where does the time go?! I thought this phrase fit him well because he definitely likes to drive fast and furious LOL! So here's a view of his card using the NEW CTMH stamp set "Fast and Furious"

I'm from MN and it gets really, really cold here. My son, Caleb, likes to compete in ice races and here's what he looks like at the starting line-up:

He has gotten up to 119 mph and that's too fast for this momma! I'm just thankful he hasn't crashed. He watched a crash at the last event and he thought the guy had died because he was going 180 mph (with a different type of racing snowmobile) but he turned out to be just fine....yikes!

I used an embossing folder (diamond plate) and the Big Shot on the cranberry cardstock and cut the numbers out using my Art Philosophy cartridge and the Cricut:

The inside sentiment is from the Perfect Fit-Birthday set being released February 1st, 2013.

Mojo Monday #278

It's Mojo Monday sketch time....have you created a card using the sketch this week? You can link your card design right here.
This week's sketch looks like this:

You can choose to create a round or square card and I usually choose the square look but I switched things up a bit this week and went with the round design. I started with a CTMH Whisper cardstock base that was cut at 5" with the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge and my Cricut. Then I added a circle layer cut at 4 1/2" with the same cartridge cut from CTMH smoothie cardstock.

The inside circle was cut at 4" and layered with Smoothie and Lagoon cardstock. The sentiment is from the CTMH Cricut Artiste Collection Birthday (D1529). I used the Big Shot with an embossing folder for the single line of raised dots.

There are lots of layers for this week's sketch so I used some retired "Dotty For You" paper that was on special a while back through CTMH, along with white, and lagoon cardstock. The ribbon is wired and has a silver shimmery look (not sure where that ribbon came from.)

The balloons were stamped using one of the CTMH Artiste stamp sets. They were stamped in Whisper and Lagoon ink. The scalloped circle was cut from a 2" scallop punch and then I layered with a 1 1/2" circle in Lagoon and a 1 1/4" circle stamped using the Perfect Fit-Birthday stamp set (B1417). It comes with several adorable birthday sentiments and will be available starting February 1, 2013. Here's a look at all the images that come in this set:

Here's a closer look. The ribbon was attached using a glue dot and the pennants were sanded on the edges to reveal the white core.
